A Guide for Women on Writing a Great Online Dating Profile

You’ve finally decided to follow the crowds and join an online dating site or maybe even two. But in order to get it all set up you’re going to be asked to create a personal profile. And from this you will attract men in droves and eventually find Mr. Right. Right? Where do you start? What should you write about yourself? These are all the questions you’re going to be dealing with, so take a deep breath because it’s time to get started.

The main advice I have is that you must be honest when describing yourself. The whole point of this is to find a man who is going to like, and maybe fall in love, with the REAL YOU, not some fake profile. Think about your past relationships and what you liked and didn’t like about these guys. If your last boyfriend smoked in the car and everywhere else, then you’re best avoiding smokers. If you’re an animal lover and you have a cat or three, it’s not going to work out if your boyfriend is allergic to cats. Save yourself some grief and aggrivation and cut to the chase by being honest about these things.

In writing your profile highlight the things that are unique about you. If you are musical and play an instrument, mention this because you want someone who will admire and appreciate your talent. If you’re athletic and play sports, someone who sits in front of the TV all day is not the one for you. If you’re an art lover and often visit museums and galleries, someone who thinks art is a waste of time isn’t going to work out.

Make sure you describe all the things that are important in your life. If you spend time volunteering or raising money for charitable causes and this gives you a sense of self-worth, you would naturally want someone that would be supportive of your efforts to do good in the world, and perhaps join with you on some of your projects. Fundamentally, you need to find a man that shares your values because all the superficial things won’t hold your interest for long.

To get the best results you really need more than one photo. The first one should be a good head shot with you looking happy with a good smile. This photo can make all the difference in the world. This is the very first thing men look at. Once they get past the photo they’ll read your profile and take in all the things you’ve written to describe yourself. But first, they need to like your photo. So don’t minimize the importance of having a great photo. Some dating sites will even recommend photographers that you can hire in your area.

Getting the interest of another person is the main goal of online dating and good pictures and profile content can help you get the results that you are looking for.
